MY PROFILE
About Mussy Hadi
I am an artist, educator and mother of three sons who has lived in the U.A.E. for nearly 45 years. I arrived in the Emirates in April 1977 to join my late husband and later that year began a 27-year long teaching career at the American School of Dubai (formerly known as the Jumeirah American School). There I established the English as a Second Language curriculum a program that was vital to hundreds of families arriving in the U.A.E. from all over the world without knowledge of English. Even after leaving the American school, I have continued to serve the community as a teacher and mentor. Recently, as a volunteer, I taught a creative storytelling class for The Zayed Library. The aim of the course was to instill a passion for reading in children as young as 7, and expose them to the resources of the library.
Art for me began as a hobby, but has since become a passion and second career. I embarked on my journey of painting in 1985 working on still life paintings and portraiture.

For more than a decade, I have studied portraiture, sculpture and painting from life at the Art Student’s League of New York, learning from some of the world’s most accomplished art instructors. I am a lifetime member of the organization, have been exhibited at the League and received recognition on several pieces of work.

My art mentors and teachers include Frank Mason, Tom Torak, Kenneth Mcindoe, and Greg Kreutz to name a few.
In the Emirates, my work is exhibited twice a year at the Dubai International Art Center, where I also offer courses in oil painting for adults and children, and creative writing for children.
